ADVERTISING JINGLES

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Why use a Jingle in my TV or Radio Ad?

Multi-billion dollar companies like Mc Donald’s, the US Army, Oscar Meyer and Mentos know that MUSIC is the most effective form of advertising. Ever find yourself singing a commercial Jingle without any conscious effort? It happens all the time. The fact is we are defenseless against music in advertising. It’s a low pressure pitch with high retention. A catchy commercial Jingle will stick in the consumer’s head, just like a Top 40 hit does.

In a recent study, using a Jingle was shown to increase the recall of a typical commercial by 32% in one study and by 43% in another. THAT'S HUGE...increasing the effectiveness of your radio and TV commercials by 32-43%.

What are the benefits of using a musical Jingle in my advertising?

Every day, consumers come face to face with advertising in many different mediums. The ads that are easily remembered are the ones that will be most effective. Why do people remember ads? Advertising logs into our memory through consistency – hearing them repeatedly over a period of time. As we learn when we’re children, MUSIC aids MEMORY! I’m sure everyone reading this learned their A B C’s by learning the alphabet song. As a matter of fact, it’s very hard to recite the alphabet without singing the song. How about “I wish I was an Oscar Meyer wiener”? Does that conjure up a specific tune? The point is: If you say something to someone a dozen times, they may remember it. If you sing something to someone a dozen times, they will never forget it!

Will I have to change my Jingle every few months to keep it fresh?

ABSOLUTELY NOT! The key to any effective advertising is CONSISTENCY. Consumers will buy from companies that they are familiar with or that they “feel” that they know. This familiar feeling comes from instant recognition of a familiar tune associated with the product or company. While your Jingle remains consistent, your message can be changed as often as you like with the announcer’s dialog.

Why should I choose a MakeMeAJingle over a “Comedy” ad?

It’s clear to see how comedic ads can be very effective, but the question is… for how long? A funny commercial is interesting twice, maybe three times. By the fourth time you hear it, the thrill is gone. While the comedy ad (if truly funny) may generate a positive reaction, it rarely has the strength to air for long periods without becoming dull, and thus, losing the listener’s ear. In this situation, the advertiser is forced into continually coming up with new and fresh comedic ideas (and hoping they’re really funny).

Now, compare that to a musical jingle. A SONG that is played repeatedly GAINS strength, rather than losing it, notoriously working its way into your subconscious. Think about the songs that are played on the radio over and over and over again. You end up singing them at random without any conscious effort. The same thing happens when a Jingle is heard with repetition and continuity.

What type of music should I use in my Jingle?

We use music in advertising to target your listening audience. Therefore, it’s our job to match your target audience with the music that arouses their interest. For example, if your product was the latest sneakers for teens, we would use Hip Hop for a male teen target audience or the most recent Pop sound if your target was female teens. Then, we determine the Jingle lyrics based on your message and company slogan.

What are :15, :30, :60, and Instrumental cuts?

Radio and TV commercials are formatted in 15, 30 and 60 second increments (spots). We provide you 2 versions of each formatted length, plus one instrumental version. One spot format is a “Back Bed”, which is structured with singing at the beginning and a music bed at the end, over which the radio announcer (or VO talent) will speak. Another format is a “Front Bed”, an exact reversal of the Back Bed. Another format used often is commonly called a “Donut”, with singing at the beginning and end, leaving the middle “music bed” for the announcer. The instrumental version allows the announcer to speak throughout the entire ad with only your familiar tune playing in the background. This is effective ONLY AFTER your lyrical Jingle has aired for a number of months consistently and has generated familiarity.

Do you provide Voice-Over (VO) Talents, as well?

We certainly do! As a matter of fact, most of our trained singers have considerable experience in VO work. We offer male and female voices, in different styles and regional dialects, such as Scottish, British, Southern Bell, Middle Eastern, and more.

How long will it take to complete my order?

On the average, 2-3 weeks for a Custom-Made Original. Keep in mind, however, that your order won’t ship until you are completely satisfied with your jingle.

Can I write my own lyrics?

While we appreciate the effort, we prefer to let our experienced masters of the craft handle the Jingle lyric writing. However, if you insist, we will work with you to make your Jingle lyrics the best and most effective it can be.

What are updates?

It’s a good idea to update your jingle for a Holiday special, or to add a new phone number and/or address (if this information is in your jingle). As a courtesy to our clients, Spring Hill Studio Productions provides one (1) FREE Holiday update with all Jingle packages.

Renewals

When it’s time to renew your Jingle license, your cost is equal to only a fraction of your initial investment. Upon renewal, you will receive 1 additional FREE update and have the opportunity to revise your original Jingle. We suggest, however, that you do not change your melody because it has now become familiar to your listening audience. Rather, consider creating an alternate version in a different genre.

Is it possible to order a Jingle En Español?

Yes, we do have Spanish songwriters on our team. We offer English, Spanish, or both for an additional fee. Your Spanish Jingle also includes 7 cuts.

Where can I air my Jingle?

Your Jingle will be licensed to your company exclusively in your DMA (Designated Market area). This means that all other MakeMeAsong.com clients in your region will be restricted from using the music in your Jingle. Within your DMA, you can air your Jingle on any radio & TV station, and your on-hold messaging system. You only pay for the markets in which you use.
