CA$H IN ON THE CLUB SCENE! Creating a dance version of your song opens the door to nightclub DJs worldwide. Some artists make more than half their royalties on remixes ... alt-pop diva Sarah McLachlan, rockers Linkin Park, hip-hop kings P. Diddy and Ja Rule, and country queens Shania Twain and LeAnn Rimes have all made big bucks on remixes.
Technically, a remix is a version of a song using its original theme, but adds new themes, complexity, digital elements and maybe a tempo change to make it more danceable. Some remixes are stripped down and simplified. Most remixes have a techno-feel and are super-rhythmic, making them prime radio products. Remixed tracks often have a higher probability of getting placed in TV and film, and can easily double album sales.
